David Travis

The Green & Surrounds Team Leader is an executive member of the Club Management Committee and is responsible for the maintenance of the Green (including ditches) and the paved area and gardens around the green.They should recruit a team of members willing to assist in fulfilling these responsibilities.

David joined the club with his wife Christine in 2019, answering an advert for new members. Having played badminton competitively for over 40 years and coached juniors, but never having played bowls, David looked for an additional sporting challenge to fill the long days of retirement. Due entirely to very good partners, David won balloted Pairs, Aussie Pairs, and Triples competitions in his first season. Never one to sit around and watch the work being done, David volunteered to assist the green maintenance team and must have done too good a job as he was then co-opted to manage the team (There must be a lesson there!)
