Rules for Rink Diary 2026.
1.0 Time Slots
There are two hour slots during the day, plus a four hour slot in the evening. This is more flexible and economical. Two slots can be reserved for long games during the day, such as County Pairs, Triples and Fours; single slots can be reserved for short games or practise thus avoiding rink blocking which can occur with longer time slots. These timings also fit well with Club Events, (Leagues, Progressive Competitions and Social Bowling). It is assumed that most County Competitions will be scheduled for the evening slot. If they are played in the afternoon, reserve Time Slots 4 and 5, i.e. from 14.00 to 18.00 hrs.
Do not reserve double slots from 16.00 hrs. (i.e. Time slots 5 and 6).
Time Slot 1: 0800 to 10.00 hrs.
Time Slot 2: 12.00 to 12.00 hrs.
Time Slot 3: 12.00 to 14.00 hrs.
Time Slot 4: 14.00 to 16.00 hrs.
Time Slot 5: 16.00 to 18.00 hrs.
Time Slot 6: 18.00 to 22.00 hrs.
2.0 Timings
All games, (apart from those reserved by the Competition Secretary for Progressives, Leagues and Fixed Day Competitions), must begin as soon as possible after the start of the reserved Time Slot, and must be completed before the end of the reserved Time Slot
3.0 Rink Reservation
Rinks reserved by the Competition Secretary, (for Progressive Competitions), the Men’s Captain and the Ladies’ Captain, (for National Competitions), are for actual Rink Numbers.
All other Rink Bookings are not for a specific rink. They are to reserve a rink at that time slot. A draw for available rinks will be carried out by a responsible person before the start of the games. In the evening session, when most County Competitions will be played, one rink has already been reserved between Friday 1 May 2026 and Sat 18 July, so that the final game in the draw will have a choice of two rinks. (i.e. only five rinks can be reserved on any one day).
It is therefore not necessary to reserve two rinks on the same day for National or County Competitions.
4.0 Provisional Rink Reservations.
-
Provisional Rink reservations should be made when offering dates, (three dates for Bowls England competitions; two dates for Bowls Lancashire competitions). Provisional reservation is only possible 48 hours in advance. The Rink Diary will offer between 1 and 3 days for the duration of the provisional reservation: the option of 3 days should be selected to give the opposition time to respond.
-
When the opposition have made their choice, the date should be manually confirmed within the Rink Diary, (within 3 days), or all the dates provisionally reserved will be deleted.
5.0 Payment
-
Club Members can reserve a rink free of charge for practice, re-arranged games for League or Progressive competitions, County competitions and National competitions. However any members of their team who are not BFGBC members are subject to the payment of a £10 green fee. The BFGBC member who reserved the Rink is responsible for collection and payment of said fees. Failure to do so will result in the Rink Diary registration being rescinded.
-
Non Members of BFGBC who choose to play their County or National competitions at BFGBC, (subject to rinks being available), are subject to a green fee of £10 per person. Booking will not be allowed where there are only two slots remaining on any individual time slot. Rinks to be reserved and paid for in advance by way of the Rink Diary Administrator, (currently Ken Hayes).
6.0 County Leagues, Fixed Day Competitions, Friendly Games and all other events.
These events will all be reserved in the Rink Diary by the Competition Secretary.
